Sorry for the light traffic on this blog over the last couple of days. My weeks are always hectic Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. This morning, I taped a session of this show. My co-guests included the police officer, Jeff Jordan, who, along with many of his colleagues, took issue with my Chula Vista column weeks ago.
It was fun. I’m pretty sure the show airing this Sunday 10:30 p.m. on KSWB Channel 5.
By the way, check out Café San Diego. Attorney Bob Ottilie is hosting today. He says the city’s “parks deficit” is just as bad as its pension deficit. Maybe so, but I have to take issue with this statement:
The pension deficit affects 10,000-15,000 people. The park deficit affects every resident of San Diego County and our tourism industry.
The pension deficit doesn’t just affect city employees and retirees – who are what I’m assuming he includes in his 10,000-15,000 figure. We’re all on the hook to bail the pension fund out of its deficit. And it’s precisely all the money the pension fund is sucking away from the budget that is hurting our parks, infrastructure and public safety status.
So, there’s that.
