Monday, Sept. 11, 2006 | Please, when you remember the firefighters, police, and other heroes from 9/11, please also remember the Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics. In New York, like San Diego, many EMTs and Medics are not firefighters, yet they also rushed to help that day, and many died as a result. EMTs and Medics specialize solely on providing medical support to save lives, be that from medical emergencies or from traumas, including terrorist attacks. Like firefighters, police, and other emergency personnel they risk their lives to help others. Like firefighters and police, I believe they deserve recognition for their efforts, and if need be, for their sacrifice.
