The local Democratic Party will oppose Mayor Jerry Sanders’ ballot measures as well as the proposal to build an international airport at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, a party official said today.
Jess Durfee, chairman of the San Diego County Democratic Party, said the party’s central committee voted last night to pan Propositions A, B and C in the Nov. 7 election. The party’s positions will likely be included in slate mailers that will be distributed throughout the city.
Proposition A is the countywide initiative to locate an international airport at Miramar. Propositions B and C will ask city of San Diego voters if they should be required to OK all pension benefit increases for city workers and whether private companies should be allowed to compete for city contracts against public employees.
