Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006 | The city of San Diego’s largest labor union, the Municipal Employees Association (MEA), is a useless union.
They force all represented city employees to pay dues whether or not those employees like it or not. I personally don’t care for MEA. My concept of a labor union is that it is an organization that fights for the rights of its collective, upholds the welfare of its members, and fights for equal benefits. If conditions warrant a strike or a walk-out, then the union takes the lead. MEA shows no semblance of such an organization. Its former leader, Judie Italiano, maliciously spent union finances for her personal gain and its officers in general are third rate.
