I received a call from Mark Fabiani, the Chargers’ general counsel, in response to my earlier post. He confirmed the Chargers have previously supported creation of a multi-jurisdictional agency to pursue a stadium solution.

According to Fabiani, their concern about the city/county MOU centered on a desire to preserve their relationships with National City and Chula Vista. There’s a history of NFL teams using smaller cities as bargaining chips to secure better deals from their host cities. Fabiani says the team’s plan is to avoid that approach and continue good-faith discussions with those cities.
