U.S. Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-El Cajon, is expected to launch a surprise exploratory bid for the presidency Monday morning.
The conservative Republican is said to have scheduled a press conference for 11 a.m. at the Broadway Pier in downtown San Diego, a source told voiceofsandiego.org.
Fox News also reported today that Duncan, the chairman of the powerful House Armed Services Committee, told Fox that he would be making “an announcement about a national campaign in 2008.” Fox said Republican sources expected Hunter to announce exploring a possible presidential run.
