Monday, Oct. 30, 2006 | Rest in peace, Philip Paulson, a courageous man, who died this last week. Paulson was a principled defender of the constitutional separation of church and state and lead plaintiff in an 18-year-old (and counting) case to remove the Christian cross from atop Mount Soledad.

I wonder if the political hypocrites – Jerry Sanders, Phil Thalheimer, Mike Aguirre, Diane Feinstein and Barbara Boxer to name five – and the many religious zealots who are too numerous to list – will now slap up a picture of Paulson, a preacher’s son and Vietnam veteran, on their ersatz Mount Soledad “war memorial.” There is no doubt that Paulson was an American hero.
