The Superior Court is accepting applications to be a member of the county grand jury.

The panel studies various facets of government and releases reports that detail inefficiencies and provide suggestions for the agency that was investigated. The agency is required by law to respond to the report.

To be eligible, an applicant must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, have a clean criminal record, and speak English. Also, applicants must have lived in San Diego County since July.

Members of the county grand jury are paid $25 per day and are reimbursed for mileage and parking.

Applications are available by calling (619) 685-6667. The deadline to apply is Jan. 12.
