Friday, Nov. 17, 2006 | Mr. Mayor, Let me see if I understand things after I boil down the fat and get to the bones.
The voters said they wanted a ballpark.
You found out you could not afford one so you borrowed my pension to pay for the ballpark.
Then you decided that I was the one who needed to repay the borrowed pension funds rather than you.
You threatened to lay off me and my co-workers if I did not start paying for the ballpark with paycheck concessions.
So for the past two years I have been having deductions from my paycheck for your ballpark.
Now you say your Five Year Plan will involve more pain for the city employees.
When do you plan on making deductions from the citizen’s paychecks?
Who in this city can possibly agree that city employees should pay for the citizens’ ballpark?
