Point Loma Nazarene University’s Center for Justice and Reconciliation is co-sponsoring La Posada Sin Fronteras for the fifth year in a row as one of the most important public Christmas liturgies of the year. We meet where the fence meets the ocean from both sides of the border.

In the presence of that symbol of separation, we re-create the story of Mary and Joseph seeking refuge in a strange place before the birth of their son Jesus. Scriptural values of hospitality to the foreigner and stranger are celebrated in song and story as symbolic gifts are exchanged. Bring the whole family!

We also mourn the people who have died while crossing the SD/TJ border. Come see the luminarias, candles in paper bags with the names of those who died crossing the border. We place these on the wall overlooking the ocean as the sun is setting. It is a wonderfully contemplative moment.
