Jeff Jordon, who recently was elected to the board of the police officers union, gave me his thoughts on the commercial we’ve been talking about. He says he hates it, but they can’t do anything about it.

The San Diego Police Officers Association can not disavow this commercial. In fact, it is still featured on our main web page www.sdpoa.org. It was produced by the SDPOA and we own it. It was first aired last summer and it was very controversial, especially within our own ranks. I have yet to speak with an officer that thought it was a good commercial. It is difficult to understand and I know the rank and file truly hates it.

Well, if the rank-and-file officers hate it and Jordon, who is on the board, has never talked to someone who likes it — a population that would presumably include his fellow board members — why can’t the current board members denounce it as the work of their overly passionate predecessors and pull it off the website?
