The City Council will consider environmentalists’ appeals to require further review of the effects condo conversions have on the surrounding community at Tuesday’s meeting.
The appeals, filed by attorney Cory Briggs on behalf of Citizens for Responsible Equitable Environmental Development, will challenge to construction of 18 projects that would turn 745 apartments into for-sale homes. The activists want to study the condo conversions’ impacts as a whole on citywide traffic, air quality and parking citywide before the projects are individually vetted by the city.
This batch of appeals is in addition to the 76 appeals that the council denied last year. More appeals are also being litigated in state courts.
