The county’s Department of Environmental Health reopened the shoreline at Imperial Beach today. It’s cool to swim there, for now. (Even if there’s no surf.)

The area south of IB, from the end of Seacoast Drive to the U.S.-Mexico border, is still off-limits. And it has been since Jan. 30. The reason why: The Tijuana River is spitting about 13 million gallons of sewage-laced runoff into the Pacific Ocean.
