Operation Safe Crossing will be going into effect tonight and tomorrow night at the San Ysidro Port of Entry. The San Diego Police Department will be monitoring checkpoints to identify underage persons attempting to cross the border into Mexico.

According to a press release:

Juveniles are not allowed to cross the border if a parent or a legal guardian does not accompany them. A parent, or legal guardian, may provide written authorization for their juvenile to enter Mexico. The minor must be in possession of a notarized letter authorizing them to travel across the border. Curfew restrictions will be enforced during the weekend. Curfew takes effect from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following day.

Officers will also be keeping an eye out for people driving under the influence of drink or drugs and for any disorderly or violent behavior.
