Tuesday, April 3, 2007 | Ron Roberts, a good buddy of local oligarchs like the Moores and Spanos families, continues to deceive the public with claims that he acts in our interest. Ron, your record is clear. You use our taxpayer money to buy campaign space on mobile health clinics. You refuse to meet with regular citizens, but have an open door policy for big campaign donors.

The sad truth is that San Diego, city and county, is deeply corrupt. You’ve been a part of this corrupt system for over two decades now, and have done nothing to change it. In fact, quite the opposite, you continually give away our assets to benefit your well-heeled contributors.

How else can you explain your deep and continued interest in subsidizing pro-sports moguls, while ignoring the need for better transport (read the series on the pathetic MTS!) parks (more hours cut, but hey the kids can watch sports on television instead of doing any themselves) or even basic economic oversight (anyone remember Amaranth?).

Ron Roberts lecturing Scott Lewis on a “lack of understanding” is laughable. When was the last time our local government got “fair market value” for any of it’s giveaways to the well-connected? Lewis is right, and Ron Roberts, as usual, is telling only the side of the story that makes himself look good.

It’s long past time for term-limits on the Board of Supervisors!
