Monday, April 9, 2007 | Having grown up in San Diego, I empathize with David Moye’s column on taco shops. As a young adult, I moved with my husband and three small children to Minnesota, near the Twin Cities, where the only taco shop at the time was Zapata’s, which was much like a Taco Bell, except it had indoor seating, being in Minnesota. Talk about disappointing!

I couldn’t find the makings for Mexican food in the grocery stores. It was awful. We lived back there for 5 and a half years, and during that time, Mexican food finally hit the Twin Cities. They even served tacos in the school cafeteria.

Here, I am very fond of Cucina Sanchez, which is more than a taco shop, on Adams Ave. in Normal Heights.
