The Police Officers Association, the city’s police union, has been talking hard all day. Jeff Jordon, one of the directors of the POA, called me this afternoon with a hoarse voice.

The POA leadership, which has been in contract negotiations with the city since mid-January but isn’t commenting on the details of those talks, is scheduled to meet with its members in a series of meetings tomorrow. Those meetings had been intended merely as an update session for union members on how the talks are progressing.

The stakes were just upped, however. According to a bulletin on the POA website, the meetings tomorrow have changed from contract negotiation meetings to a POA director’s recommendation meeting.

That basically means that there’s a deal that’s been hashed out and the directors want the membership to vote on it.

All members of the union are urged to attend.

Check back with us early tomorrow for updates.
