Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007 | Johnson Elementary Principal Margie Lincoln is a perfect example of a superb long-time San Diego Unified School District educator. She would tell you there are many others like her and that improving student achievement is not something accomplished overnight or by instituting “merit pay” or by hounding people out of the teaching profession — Alan Bersin’s “Blueprint” canards. Education in this day and age is slow, hard work that takes charismatic leadership and attention to the baby steps.  In time, baby steps become giant strides and we all win.

Congratulations and best wishes to Mrs. Lincoln on her “retirement.”
