Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007 | The alcohol ban is just a case of the tail wagging the dog. People who enjoy alcoholic beverages and who behave properly — as the majority of us do — are penalized because of the actions of an unruly few. The thugs don’t move about the beach firing pistols or racing off-road vehicles, because they know such conduct will result in swift arrest with dire consequences.

Aggressive enforcement of existing ordinances is the answer to the problem. There is plenty of alcohol available nearby most beaches; enough to fuel egregious behavior.
