A few months ago, we sat down with Candy Walsh and Susan Deininger, two women who are spearheading an effort in Tierrasanta to set up a support network for homeowners wishing to stay in their homes as they age.

I heard yesterday from Leane Marchese, executive director of an organization called ElderHelp of San Diego. Marchese announced the creation of a similar program for homeowners that will start in North Park.

Marchese said the Tierrasanta women were contacted to combine forces with this project, but that Deininger and Walsh preferred to keep their effort grassroots and separate from this one.

From Marchese’s e-mail:

We hope to launch late summer…. More programs like this are needed. We feel we have great funding opportunities to bring this idea to many seniors who could benefit.

And Marchese passed along a link to the organization’s website.
