Monday, Dec. 31, 2007 | Flash of the Blazing Obvious

It is obvious after the Cedar fire and the recent fires that we need a San Diego County Fire Department. Equally obvious is the culpability of the Board of Supervisors in continuing to ignore their responsibility to provide fire protection for their constituents.

We citizens voted for the concept, the issue now is funding. Obviously Proposition 172 funds should be used to support the new County Fire Department.

Thank the Lord that we were not burned out in either of the fire years. It is time for those who were to make common cause and to fire a class action lawsuit against the Board of Supervisors to force them to do the right thing.
