The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department and the Chula Vista Fire Department are going to merge their fire and medical dispatch operations.

The mayors of San Diego and Chula Vista will make the announcement tomorrow.

Mayor Jerry Sanders’ spokesman, Fred Sainz said the San Diego dispatch center will have four new staff members and will take on dispatching Chula Vista’s emergency fire calls.

Sainz said the move will result in economies of scale for both San Diego and Chula Vista.
