Monday, April 7, 2008 | I truly enjoyed your piece about Garry Ridge. I have been a small share holder in WD-40 for many many years, the only San Diego company I own, and the only one for which I faithfully attend annual meetings. And that is where I have experienced Ridge’s philosophy, and seen the enthusiasm there of the many employees who are also shareholders. It was fun to learn a bit about his personal life from you.

I’ve been interested in socially responsible investing, or SRI, for more than two decades. This company is not commonly touted in the literature about good companies from SRI perspective, but I have made that assessment on my own. It has had honesty in reporting, non-excessive executive pay. And I like companies that consistently pay dividends.
