Wednesday, April 16, 2008 | I’ve forwarded Dianne Jacob’s column to a Chicago journalist and a homeowner in the MHC-owned Senior Mobile Home Park in Sedona, Ariz.
Carole Marin (the journalist) has been after Sam Zell since he raised the space rentals in a park in Elgin, Ill., and put those “renters” in peril.
The homeowners in Sedona, Ariz., have personally been affected by Sam Zell when MHC came in and raised rents and put into effect “rules” that separated a community that was already established and doing well.
I no longer live there—and that has to be taken into account—but I remember what it was and what I now hear from my former neighbors who are being forced out by economics.
I applaud your effort to denounce this “grave dancer” and now that I find him here in Chicago, I’m wondering what damage he will do here?
The Chicago Tribune, WGN radio and TV, the Cubs and Wrigley Field all seem larger than an MHC mobile home park, but they are all part of the personae of Sam Zell: make money at all costs.
You’re not alone in your fight—it does reach out, even to the suburbs of Chicago.
