I just spoke to Mike Aguirre. He said he has been granted a one-week continuance to file an appeal on his flagship pension case. Aguirre had been scrambling towards a deadline of today to get the appeal filed, an endeavor that has been keeping him off the campaign trail.

Aguirre was able to make it to a debate organized on Wednesday by the local chapter of the NAACP.

“We got our final draft of the appeal done at 5:58, so I went over there,” Aguirre said of the debate, which started at 6 p.m.

Aguirre told me he plans on attending most of the city attorney debates from here on out, “city business permitting.”
