A debate scheduled for Wednesday night will only feature three of the candidates for city attorney: Brian Maienschein, Scott Peters and Amy Lepine.

The forum, organized by the local branch of the NAACP, will be held at the Malcolm X Library at Euclid and Market Streets. It starts at 6 p.m.

Tuesday, for the second time, Mike Aguirre didn’t show up for a city attorney debate. He had said formerly that he is too busy working on his flagship pension appeal to attend many of the debates.

Aguirre did, however, film his regular appearance on KUSI television Wednesday morning. He said he spent five minutes there talking about the pension issue.

“I was there at 7 a.m., on my way to work,” Aguirre said.

Jan Goldsmith e-mailed me Wednesday morning and let me know he will not be able to make the debate either. He said he was confirmed for the original date of April 30 but can’t make it as he has a conflict.

Update: We just received word that Aguirre did indeed attend Wednesday night’s debate.
