Crossed signals prevented San Diego City Councilman Kevin Faulconer and I from speaking last week regarding my story on the proposed Mission Bay Park ballot measure.
We were able to connect this morning.
Faulconer, whose district includes the park, said he understands why some people are upset about the priorities for the park that will be written into the ballot measure. But he objects to claims that the measure was drafted in secret, as some are saying.
The proposed measure would dedicate a higher percentage of the lease revenues generated by the park to capital projects for Mission Bay and other regional parks.
“I have been talking about this until I am blue in the face for years,” Faulconer said. “And we have gone out and talked to people and solicited feedback.”
Faulconer and the rest of City Council will be debating and likely voting on the measure today. Stay tuned for an update this afternoon.
