Fred Maas, chairman of the Centre City Development Corp.’s board, just told me that CCDC has already set aside the 7th Avenue and Market Street project, a step the agency has taken while an outside law firm reviews the project. CCDC hired outside counsel to investigate the timeline of events leading to the selection of Related of California as the preferred developer of 7th and Market.

Maas said he had not seen City Attorney Mike Aguirre’s letter, which was issued today, but offered this comment:

“We have effectively set aside 7th and Market until we’ve gone through our process. I think we have an obligation to the process to go through our appropriate mechanism. We pay great deference to the city attorney, but hopefully he will respect our process as well.”
