The Centre City Development Corp. on Wednesday laid off two of its top executives: Barbara Kaiser, vice president of real estate operations, and Phil Bona, assistant vice president of architecture and planning.

Kaiser, a former Long Beach redevelopment official, joined CCDC in May 2006 and had filled some duties of former CCDC President Nancy Graham, who resigned last summer and is now the subject of a federal investigation into her role in two downtown redevelopment projects.
CCDC Chairman Fred Maas described the decision to let go of Kaiser and Bona as “austerity measures” taken because of the economic slowdown. The agency has frozen bonuses and salaries this year and recommended doing the same for next year. And the agency agreed to reduce the salary range of Graham’s eventual replacement. What was a $191,000-$255,000 salary range will become a $175,000-$225,000 range.
