Sometimes news stories just pop up in your backyard. We here at voiceofsandiego.org aren’t big on spot news, but I thought I’d share several photos from a fire that broke out just a block from my home Sunday night in Ocean Beach.

This of course did not even compare to the experience of another local photographer. Sandy Huffaker, (a freelance photographer who once caught reporter David Washburn with his hand up in the air for a New York Times profile), was just blocks away from the military fighter jet that crashed into homes in University City. He arrived on the scene rapidly, breaking some camera equipment in the process, and had the images he made plastered on the front page of The New York Times.

I’ll have some more Ocean Beach news to post later today — something of impact and significance citywide.
