Saturday, July 18, 2009 | Mr. Lewis: I think that the City of SD owes people like yourself a big debt for “telling it like it is”. However, it seems that nobody wants to read the bad news and admit it; they prefer to run in many directions hoping to win the lottery. What about bringing in “Little Mike” to deal with this mess?
For a realistic sum, the man could actually make the necessary corrections and that would be the end. Somebody is going to suffer, but it should be shared by all, even to the extent that the Mayor should resign! That DROP program is going to cost big time in future, not to mention the effect that it is going to suffer from the immediate retirements of high priced officials. The Civil Service Commission has to revisit what can be called a review of “fair wages”, the City has to get tough with SDPD and SDFD let them go to “greener pastures”, see how many leave!
This baloney about nationwide search for new FD head is a place to start; save the consultants fee, the moving expense, the interview expense, and go for a local person. Bankruptcy is all these issues. Smokescreen.
