In our March 25 fact check of Bob Sinclair, owner of the Wonder Bread building, we misspelled a key word in his quote.
Here’s how we quoted him:
Building a new Chargers stadium downtown would be “taking 15 to 20 acres of land that’s sewn for high-rise residential development.”
Here’s how it should’ve read:
Building a new Chargers stadium downtown would be “taking 15 to 20 acres of land that’s sown for high-rise residential development.”
Sewn means to join or attach stitches. Sown means to plant seed for the purpose of growth. That’s an important distinction. We regret the error.
