Last week we profiled the most important person you know nothing about, Kris Michell. She’s Mayor Jerry Sanders’ chief of staff and as much as anyone is responsible for what modern San Diego is, and isn’t.

Update: At one point in this piece, I’m explain how Michell carries out Sanders’ agenda. I say, “For five years, she’s taken his ideas, like the new central library, and made them happen.” That statement could give the impression that the library as a concept started with Sanders. As I note at the outset of the piece, it’s an effort that’s being going on for three decades. The idea for a new library itself was not Sanders’. The point I was trying to make was that Sanders wanted to get the library finished, and she did. The language should have been more precise. – LIAM DILLON
