To get ideas for a new Chargers stadium, Mayor Jerry Sanders embarked on a trip to Kansas City, Indianapolis and Denver last week to see what worked and didn’t work when those cities built sports venues.

So how did those cities manage to pull it off? Taxes, writes our Scott Lewis. He also appeared in a special San Diego Explained with NBC7 San Diego’s Catherine Garcia to discuss the obstacles to building a stadium in California.
