San Diego Police officers clad in riot gear arrested dozens of protesters early Friday morning from the Occupy San Diego encampment at the Civic Center.

Like most people in the media, I was fast asleep when the arrests happened, but I checked in this morning to see what was happening there.

Protesters heckled police who had formed a perimeter around the area. Eventually protesters walked into the plaza without confrontation.

The group is planning a rally tonight at the Civic Center. Here are some images from today, after the camp was dismantled.

Early in the day, a lone protester slipped through the police line and placed himself in the Civic Center. (He gave his name, but because he is a minor and we don’t have his parents’ permission, we are not releasing it or showing his face, per VOSD policy)

Christopher McKay, 44, and Michael Basillas, 26, shout at officer Bobby Johnson. They called him a “hypocrite” and repeatedly said he and other officers were “on the wrong side of history.” Johnson laughed at the protesters.
