This edition of Fact Check TV in partnership with NBC7 San Diego examines two claims by Congressman Bob Filner and City Councilman Todd Gloria.

Filner made a misleading claim while pushing his candidacy for mayor. He boasted of writing the blueprint for downtown San Diego’s renaissance but the project had long been in the works before he became involved as a city councilman.

Gloria inaccurately described the city’s involvement in a lawsuit seeking to overturn two new state laws. If the laws survive a legal challenge, they will shift millions of dollars in property taxes from redevelopment agencies to schools. Gloria, a supporter of redevelopment, said the city was suing the state, which isn’t true. It’s not a party to the lawsuit.
