Most of the action’s happening in Los Angeles for the Getty-instigated “Pacific Standard Time” art extravaganza. But this weekend, all eyes are on San Diego.

The extravaganza’s “San Diego focus weekend” features concerts, panels and activities at the two local museum shows we’ve been writing about, the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego’s “Phenomenal” and the Mingei Museum’s “Craft Revolution.”

The weekend kicks off tonight with the Thursday Night Thing at the downtown campus of the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego.

On Sunday, three generations of the San Diego State University furniture design program will speak about local design. Organizers say bringing together these three, Larry Hunter, Wendy Maruyama and Tanya Aguiniga, will be a really historically important conversation because their experience stretches over such a long time span.
