Maybe you’ve seen the giant bear, or the crooked house whose hoisting we followed last year. These are two of the massive art pieces that make up the Stuart Collection at UC San Diego, an esteemed collection that has been growing for 30 years.
Constance White has been working on the art program at the San Diego airport. At our Meeting of the Minds event last week, White was one of six speakers highlighting arts and culture topics in a visual, rapid-fire presentation style. Each presenter had 20 slides, displayed for 20 seconds each. The standing-room-only event was at the Luce Loft in East Village.
White spoke about the importance of public art and her highlights of award-winning collection at UCSD that’s just a ways up the road from the collection White’s building for the airport.
Note: Some of the images from White’s presentation aren’t in this video because we lacked permission to republish.
Read what our event-goers had to say after all six presentations, and follow the thread that unfolded on Twitter.
And add your thoughts: When have you come across these sculptures? Do you have a favorite? Leave us a comment.
