Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher saved CCDC. He is a tool of downtown and U-T San Diego. We need a mayor who will invest in all of San Diego. I prefer to have our tax money invested in our own communities and to have a mayor who wants to do the mayor’s job instead of running the school board, etc.
Congressman Bob Filner, because of his experience and interest in focusing on the job, appears to be the best choice. For instance, San Diego needs a new pension plan. It is better to have a mayor who will set a cap and then negotiate the rest. I hope that our next pension plan requires the least involvement of our city government. The present proposition, which is supported by three candidates, says nothing about Social Security and Medicare. The city only needs to supplement them. The city employees should not be required to rely totally on the stock market for their retirement.
