The Issue
Supervisor Pam Slater-Price has directed more than $10 million of county money to arts and culture organizations over her time in office. Now she’s stepping down.
What It Means
Slater-Price’s arts support has earned her special standing in the culture community, but has also made her a target. While she serves the last months of her term, the arts community is looking for a new champion.
What’s Next
The two candidates angling for her seat are now defining their stances on the county’s often-criticized discretionary grant program. One, Steve Danon, wants to kill the program entirely. Arts insiders are grooming Dave Roberts, but even he’d like to change the programs.
