News Corp. is denying it is in talks for the L.A. Times, but who really knows. How sad it would
be to lose a truly great paper in the region? Especially to someone who has been infinitely more
powerful in the real world than Doug Manchester.
The U-T didn’t have any teeth to lose, but turning the L.A. Times into a paper version of Fox News or into a News of the World-style rag would be a real reason to lament.
