San Diego City Councilman Chris Cate is a self-professed wine-guy, but he’s trying to get into the beer scene. Two-thirds of San Diego’s breweries are in his district, which is even getting its own beer soon.

Voice of San Diego’s Kinsee Morlan met with Cate to talk about beer week, making the city more brewery-friendly and why he wants his district to be known as the beer belt.

Restaurateur Arsulan Tafazoli also phoned in to the podcast to chat about his recent battle with the Federal Aviation Administration. Tafazoli wants to build another restaurant in Little Italy, but new occupancy regulations are getting in the way.

Also this week, Voice of San Diego’s Scott Lewis and Andrew Keatts get into why politicians need to stop playing the victim. They also ridicule local talk radio show host Carl DeMaio’s criticism of our recent coverage of a sexual harassment lawsuit, clarify Richard Barrera’s claim about segregated schools and explain why Little Italy’s new parking garage doesn’t deserve the hype.
