Delays in San Diego’s response to 911 calls continue to provoke outrage and calls for improvements.

Mayor Kevin Faulconer has struck a deal to pay 911 operators more in hopes doing so will boost staffing levels and push down wait times. The city is also considering creating a new phone line – 311 – for all non-emergency calls, which could help cut down wait times as well.
