As the unprecedented becomes increasingly normal in local and national politics, this week of news gave us reporters no lack of opportunities to invoke the now-tired term.

At home, the San Diego City Council passed perhaps its riskiest budget ever, tentatively softening financial blows to neighborhood services such as parks and libraries with a host of new revenue streams. The supposed money makers include: employee cuts, digital billboard advertising, paid parking at Balboa Park and Mission Bay Park, and imposing credit card fees on parking meter transactions. Our hosts will dive into why some city leaders are weary that these untested methods will pay off.

The team also reflects on the state of immigration after a tumultuous week of raids, protests and unprecedented levels of federal intervention in Los Angeles. Our reporters will share what we know and what we’re still trying to better understand in this quickly evolving legal environment.
