There are famous people who live in San Diego or have ties to our city. But few have so publicly identified as San Diegans. Bill Walton was one of them.
Walton, an NBA legend and long-time San Diego booster, died this week. He was 71.
On the latest episode, VOSD Podcast hosts pay tribute to Walton’s love for San Diego and they explain why his recent tone shift was significant. He went from boosting the city to telling businesses to stay away from San Diego because of the homelessness crisis.
“He began using that voice that had always been so positive, so chill, so boost-ery of San Diego to being instead pretty dark, pretty angry and pretty intense,” said host Scott Lewis.
The crew also gets into who will likely be the county’s new chief operating officer. And environment reporter Mackenzie Elmer joins the show to explain what a new audit found about how expensive it is to bury power lines.
