The Dawgs won the opener 3-0 behind Graves’ dominating performance, carrying a perfect game into the sixth inning. Seth Pietsch’s home run and RBI hits by Nick Guerra and Scott Goodman rounded out the explosive game.

(An affiliated team plays under the direction of a Major League team. For example the Padres have affiliated teams in Lake Elsinore (single-A), Portland (double-A), and Mobile (triple-A). When a player improves and progresses they work their way through the divisions and once they reach the triple-A level, they should be ready to progress to the Padres. In contrast, an independent league such as the Golden Baseball League doesn’t have any one team for whom they’re preparing players.
