MICHAEL T. LYNCH, MONTEREY

December 6, 2005 | One couldn’t help but notice that when your new mayor was sworn in, his first official act was to call for the return of the slogan, “America’s Finest City” to the city’s Web site. While San Diego has its attractions, I would challenge anyone to show where it is “America’s Finest City” in any particular area, by any measurement system, let alone the finest city overall. Saying it ain’t going to make it so. If this is symbolic of Jerry Sanders’ plans for political reform, I’m afraid the current governmental malaise will last for the foreseeable future.
