Wednesday, June 28, 2006 | April Boling has a clear picture of the dangers of the city and the county intentionally underfunding their pension systems. The county is in a state of denial similar to that of the city. Both entities are providing unaffordable benefits for employees to be paid by future taxpayers. They pander to employee unions because it’s easy to push the bill onto kids that are not eligible to vote, have not entered the work force, and will not for years to come. They are burdening today’s kids with a debt to pay for the extravagances and excesses of the Board of Supervisors and the beleaguered City Council.
April Boling is a voice our elected officials – and voters – should be listening to.
