Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006 | Doncha just love all the legal hairsplitting being thrown at us citizen/taxpayers to muddy the waters over the culpability of the Gang of Five Miscreants on the City Council? If they were men and women of character, they would resign and let the city have a clean slate to start anew.
Madaffer, Adkins, Peters, Maienschein and Frye must go!
Let’s see… Madaffer is quoted as saying “Let ’em sue us”, when advised that the water/sewer department billing chicanery is a violation of various statutes. The other four also knowingly voted to screw us homeowner ratepayers. The disgraced Murphy, who told us all when running for that office that with all his degrees he could read very complex financial statements – so he was either lying to us citizens then – or he did engage in fraud in selling those infamous ballpark bonds whilst the bad news was purposely withheld. Murphy also oversaw the lease negotiations with the Padres which let them off with a pittance in rent with no COLA escalators, nor with responsibility for paying the costs of operating the park and providing police presence when ballgames are played. The Padres “own” one-third of the ballpark, I believe, but are not accountable for one-third of the overall expenses to operate that ‘sandbox for overpaid underachieving adolescents. Yikes…that is a fraud on us taxpayers if there ever was one.
As an aside, is the local Superior Court with all those judges who served with Murphy before he ran for office really free of a conflict of interest when various judges preside over the various lawsuits that have been filed in an attempt to make us taxpayer citizens financially whole? Is this a fraud when they do not recuse themselves?
Doncha just love life in our la-la land?
