The San Diego City Council will end its summer recess a week early in order to discuss Mayor Jerry Sanders’ plan for implementing Kroll’s suggestions for fixing the city’s fiscal woes.

Council President Scott Peters called a special meeting for Sept. 6 at 2 p.m. to discuss the mayor’s proposals to remedy City Hall of the problems Kroll laid out in its $20 million report this month.

Sanders is expected to detail the specifics of his plan at a town hall forum Thursday night. The event will be held at The Balboa Park Club from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The plan will officially be announced at a press conference tomorrow at 11 a.m.

It’s unclear whether the council will also discuss Sanders’ plans at its Sept. 19 meeting – when the council was initially set to meet on this topic – Peters’ spokeswoman Pam Hardy said. Peters called the earlier meeting because he and other council members preferred to act faster on the proposed remedies, she said.
